Hey all,
I'm trying to install linux on my ipod (incase we weren't clear!).
I went through the manual installation process (on a Mac with MacPod).
At the end, I ejected the ipod. It booted up and showed me a screen from which to chose Mac OS, iPodLinux, disk mode, or one other thing. I selected iPodLinux. Then, it dumped a huge chunk of text to my screen, which ende with (this is all I could see, it wouldn't let me scroll up):

Code:

us0/target0/lun0:
 [mac] p1 p2 p3
 /dev/ide/host0/b
us0/target0/lun0:
 [mac] p1 p2 p3
sh-2021: reiserfs
_read_super: can
not find reiserfs
 on ide0(3,3)
Kernal panic: VFS
: Unable to mount
 root fs on 03:03

From there, the only thing I can do is restart.

Does anyone know how to go about fixing this?
Thanks,
Stalepretzel

Try using an installer instead of manually installing.

There isn't any Mac installers except a few old, depreciated ones that install old components (i.e. [[/Installer_script_mac]], which is not recommended).

Yorgle posted a fix for that issue here: http://ipodlinux.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=30088
Not having a MacPod, I have no idea if it works, but it seems to for him. Also, please state your iPod model (and size maybe) so others can help you better should they need that info.

bad advice.

Better yet, read the Manual_Installation page on the wiki. It explains how to fix this.
