Bootloader
From iPodLinux
The bootloader is a small piece of software on the iPod that is needed to let you choose to load iPodLinux (or Rockbox) instead of Apple's software.
It is invoked when the iPod boots (i.e. by a reset operation).
There are currently two major versions available of the bootloader:
- Loader 2 which provides a menu from which you can choose which software to start.
- The original loader which lets you choose between the Apple and Linux by pressing the Rewind button (depreached, do not use anymore).
A convenient way to install a bootloader is to use Installer 2 which will take you through the entire linux setup.
