Talk:Nano2G
From iPodLinux
An interpretation of the machine code
- After reading the page which this talk relates to, I suggest that the team look at the code not as an Encrypted firmware, but instead as a new form of Assembler, which just (therefore) needs new disassembly tools to use. It seems logical to me as you say that the chips are from a different manufacturer to the once Apple used to use. The jump numbers seem to make sense, just not the instructions (that's what gave me the idea it could be a new form of Assembler). DX-MON 22:45, 10 November 2008 (UTC)
Since RockBoxs was ported to rockbox because someone figured out the encryption, when are you guys going to start working on the port for nano2g. I have had iPodLinux on almost all of my iPods and can't wait to install Linux on my 2G. Booher6194 22:45, 09 December 2009 (UTC)
Identifying CPUs in new Nanos
You don't need to open the iPod to see which CPU it uses. Just get the IPSW, unzip it and open bootloader file in hex editor - in the end there is a string that says "x Secure Boot", where x is CPU model, for example S5L8730. --Purpleskank 08:16, 22 December 2009 (UTC)
