Since before I got my first iPod in 2002 I've been looking into what this hardware can do. After a few months of solid hacking I finally had something that could be interesting to the general public so in Feburary 2003 I published my initial port of Linux to the iPod and started the SourceForge ipodlinux project. From there things have grown in stutters and starts but as the popularity of the iPod has grown so has the interest in this project.

Recently I have been looking at getting Linux ported to the newer iPods (as they are programmatically quite different to the earlier models). We're finally making some good progress there so hopefully we'll be able to get things working in the next month or two.

We have also started a blog so we can post status updates and other (hopefully!) interesting tid-bits.
